Ballet at the Theatre Royal Norwich

Ballet fans have the perfect excuse to book Norfolk hotels next month, as the Norwich Theatre Royal is set to unveil two special productions in one week.

The St Petersburg Ballet Theatre of Konstantin Tatchkine will be in town to perform a pair of much-loved masterpieces by Tchaikovsky – Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty.

From Tuesday January 18th to Saturday January 22nd 2011, visitors can see the Russian company’s 50 dancers and 35-piece orchestra bring these magical tales to life on the stage.

The theatre has described the performances as “a magical, post-Christmas treat of a week which will be treasured by all lovers of traditional classical ballet”.

According to venue spokesperson John Bultitude, fans of the genre can certainly expect a memorable show in Norwich.

He commented: “The technical skills and artistic interpretation of the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre are world-renowned.”

Swan Lake will be performed at 19:30 GMT from Tuesday to Thursday, with a matinee event taking place on Wednesday at 14:30.

People wishing to see The Sleeping Beauty should book seats for Friday or Saturday, with the final day also featuring a matinee performance.

Tickets are priced between £6.50 and £32.50.
