Hotels in Norfolk Hauntings and T.V locations

Hotels in Norfolk are an interesting and individual collection of places to stay often reflecting the beautiful Norfolk countryside and the amazing local produce on offer.

The Arlington Group is very proud of our Hotels in Norfolk.

We have spent a lot of time building a reputation as top providers of Hotels in Norfolk. We would like to introduce you to The George at Swaffham….

Swaffham, better known as Market Shipborough in the Stephen Fry television series Kingdom is perfectly situated for visiting the many bird reserves in North Norfolk and is a good base for seeing the amazing autumn bird migrations.

Flights of thousands of geese can be seen flying inland in their distinctive V formations from the reserves along the coast to feed on the sugar beet fields, a truly amazing sight.

And don’t forget that most beautiful beach in Britain – it’s at Holkham near the pretty seaside town of Wells just a 25 minute drive away.

As well as being within easy reach of (we think) the most beautiful beach in Britain and set in the heart of an unspoiled Norfolk market town, The George at Swaffham has one other claim to fame – it’s haunted.

The Green Lady is said to have died at the hotel in the 1700s and still walks the corridors and visits the bar and restaurant.

And while we can’t guarantee seeing the Green Lady, our fantastic accommodation offers that we are running in The Times, Telegraph and News of the World gives you the perfect incentive to take an autumn break in one of the most unspoiled areas of Britain.

Group managing director Bill Heath says he is certain the Green Lady exists as he was staying there at Christmas with his family when the hotel was closed and a member of the party asked him who was the lady in the green dress who had just walked up the stairs.

“This person had no knowledge of her existence and it came as quite a nice surprise.

“We just said ‘Oh my word you’ve just seen the Green Lady.’

“We have had several groups which research the paranormal staying here and they say there are all sorts of spirits in the place.

“There is a bricked up tunnel leading from the old cellar to the church which people used as an escape route in times of unrest though whether that is associated with the Green Lady we are not too sure.

“Our guests have told us they have heard knocking on doors only to find nothing when they were answered and others have seen her in their bedrooms.

But do not be put off by the paranormal for your Hotel stay in Norfolk. The George comes complete with a new wing where the Green Lady does not visit.

So pick up your copy of the The Times or The Telegraph to enjoy a great discount on Hotels in Norfolk this autumn.
