Just as the summer family holiday season gets into full swing, guess what? It’s raining in August. But the British weather has not put off the thousands of people who have decided to stay at home and take advantage of the great value for money a British holiday can offer.
Our hotels in Norfolk and Suffolk have seen many families and couples book and stay whilst getting to know this great region a lot better as part of their summer break. And this year they’re doing it in greater numbers than ever, with bookings at a seasonal high.
For instance, Hotel Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads with its view across the river has been heavily booked for many nights and our other hotels in Norwich, Newmarket, Swaffham and North Walsham have also seen more people booking in for a family holiday this year.
We think we can offer more than the national chains because many of our employees are born within the local area, giving them a wide knowledge of the secret delights and hidden treasures in our photographic countryside. So when you stay with us, ask our managers and they can direct you to spots off the tourist trail where you can experience the real beauty of East Anglia.
If you stay at Hotel Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads; we can tell you how to get to the undiscovered bits of Broadland which even in August can offer a tranquil spot for a picnic.
If you’re staying at The Scarbrough Hill Hotel in North Walsham, we can direct you to a small brewery in a neighbouring town well known for its real ales.
At Hampton Court in Newmarket, you are just a short walk away from the horse racing museum, but we can also tell you when you can see the top trainers on the gallops with their horses. We can’t guarantee you a top tip, but in the vibrant bars of the town there will be stable lads by the dozen who are always talking about the next racing winner!
And of course The George in Norwich, where you’re just a short walk or bus ride away from one of the best shopping areas in the country. Not to mention its historic sites like the Norman castle and medieval cathedral and a city centre buzzing with life and evening entertainment.
The George Hotel, Swaffham is only a short drive away from the North Norfolk coast with boat trips to see the seals and famous sandy beaches that goes on for miles. And it’s one of the best bird watching areas in the country with a new centre at Cley with magnificent views across the salt marshes to the sea where you may even be lucky enough to hear the shy bittern’s booming song.
Our hotels are ready to welcome you and have the expertise and local knowledge to make your holiday much more interesting.
Call our team to reserve your accommodation or chat directly with a manager if you’re not sure what’s going on in the area.
East Anglia has loads to offer young and old, even if it is a bit damp at the time of writing!
