Business in the Community Awards Finalist

The Arlington Hotel Group has been named as a finalist for the Community Impact Award in the Business in the Community Awards scheme. The winner will be announced at a gala dinner sponsored by Anglian Water on the 14th June at Hengrave Hall near Bury St Edmunds. The scheme is one of the Prince of Wales Charities working locally and nationally to improve social and environmental policies and to invest in local communities focusing on those with the greatest needs.

Our group of hotels has undertaken a number of projects going back over many years.

In Norwich we have worked with the local prison to give inmates a chance to work in our hotels during the day whilst still serving their sentences to give them a greater chance of finding work when their jail term ends.

We have sponsored Saxlingham Cricket Club, a village club a few miles south of Norwich for a number of years and our sponsorship has helped to develop training for the youth teams in particular the under 14’s and under 11’s. Our funding has also allowed the club to purchase mobile pitch covers and other equipment.

At Swaffham and Hoveton, near Wroxham, we help by offering high school students work placements. This has been particularly successful in Swaffham where a number of our ex students are in full time employment within the hospitality industry.

At Swaffham, head chef Danny George is a governor at the town’s primary school and pays regular visits to the school to give youngsters lessons in cooking.

These are just a few of the many areas where we are involved in the local community.
